Going Higher

God has been dealing with me for a while (a little more than a year) about going higher in Him. This past Sunday we had an Evangelist come and minister at my church. Guess what his message was titled?  Going Higher.

I have to ask – do you desire to go higher in God?

Because here’s the thing: There’s always a separation before elevation.

All of the disciples didn’t go up on the mountain with Jesus before He was transfigured before Peter, James, and John. 9 were still at the base of the mountain.

Are you one of those at the base of the mountain? Or has your faithfulness and desire caused Jesus to lead you up to the top of the mountain with God? Are you hanging out with the crowd, or is Jesus the One you choose time and time again?

Sometimes you’re going to have to ‘go’ without others.

We cannot expect God to show us the greater things of His kingdom if we just want to wait on our friends, our spouse, our ‘whoever’ to go with us. Elijah was separated for 3 and 1/2 years before God used him to lead the baal worshippers to repentance. Jesus even separated Himself right before His crucifixion – the requirement for our redemption.

There are things God is going to call us to do before we can move deeper into the things of His kingdom. Do you want to be used in bringing others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ? Had God called you to write a book that will shake the enemy’s camp? Have you felt led to do something in ministry, but feel hung up by something? Do you long to lead someone to the Lord, but the opportunity never seems to present itself?

Mountain

Leave the 9 at the base and start making the climb. Because Jesus wants to show you His glory, transforming the way you see the world around you; lighting up your darkness and pointing you to your path. You cannot expect to even be led up the mountain if the desire of your heart is to stay with the crowd.

Is Jesus calling you up higher?

Put on your gear – He is worth the climb!
